These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Rebate Checker website and referral service, operated by Rebate Checker ("we", "us", "our"). By using this website or submitting the eligibility form, you agree to these terms.

1. What our service is

Rebate Checker is a free comparison and referral service. We help you check whether your household may be eligible for Australian government solar battery rebates and, with your consent, refer your enquiry to one or more accredited battery installation companies ("partners") who may contact you with a quote.

We are not a government agency. Rebate Checker is a privately operated service and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any Commonwealth, state or territory government body. Rebates are administered by the relevant government programs, not by us.

2. What our service is not

We do not install batteries or solar systems, and we are not a party to any contract you enter into with a partner.
We do not provide financial, credit, tax or product advice. Any information on this website is general in nature and does not take your personal circumstances into account.
We do not guarantee that you will qualify for any rebate, that a particular rebate amount will apply, or that a partner will offer you a quote or a $0-upfront payment plan.

3. Eligibility to use the service

The service is available to Australian residents aged 18 or over. The government battery rebates we check are generally only available to property owners, which is why our form asks about home ownership.

4. Rebates and savings estimates

Rebate amounts (including any figure of "up to $4,000") depend on your state or territory, battery size, installation date and the terms of the relevant government program, and may change or be withdrawn at any time.
Savings estimates (including "up to 83%") are indicative only and depend on your household usage, tariffs, system size and configuration. Actual savings will vary.
Your installer and the relevant program authority are responsible for confirming your actual eligibility and rebate amount.

5. Referrals and payments we receive

Our service is free for you to use. We may receive a fee or commission from partners when we refer an enquiry to them. This does not change the price you pay a partner.

6. Your obligations

Provide accurate, current and complete information in the form.
Only submit your own personal information, or information you are authorised to provide.
Do not misuse the website, attempt to interfere with its operation, or submit automated or fraudulent enquiries.

7. Dealing with partners

Any quote, contract, installation, warranty or payment plan is solely between you and the partner. You should make your own enquiries about a partner (including their licences and accreditation) before entering into a contract. Nothing in these terms limits the consumer guarantees you have against a partner under the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Intellectual property

All content on this website (including text, design, graphics and logos) is owned by or licensed to us and may not be reproduced without our permission, except as permitted by law.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) the website and service are provided "as is"; (b) we are not liable for any loss arising from your dealings with a partner, from rebate program changes, or from your reliance on general information on this website; and (c) our total liability in connection with the service is limited to resupplying the service.

10. Privacy

Our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

11. Changes and termination

We may update these terms or change, suspend or discontinue the service at any time. The latest version of these terms will always be published on this page.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
